An empty message box can make a simple gift feel like a writing assignment. How do you fit a friendship, a thank-you or a little encouragement into a few words?
Start smaller. Think about one thing you want this person to hear.
Notice something specific
“You always make time to listen” feels different from a general thank-you. It tells someone which part of their kindness stayed with you.
You could write about a shared moment, a habit you admire or something they did when it mattered. The detail does not have to make sense to anyone else.
Write the way you speak
Try saying your message out loud. If it sounds like something you would never say over coffee, simplify it.
A short “Thanks for showing up” can carry more of you than a carefully polished paragraph. An inside joke can work too, if the recipient will enjoy seeing it again.
Give each space a purpose
The private gift page has room for your longer thought. The backing card can hold the message they will see when they open the gift. The magnet itself can keep the moment visible on a fridge, shelf or desk.
Those messages do not need to be identical. They can be different parts of the same conversation.
And if you are still stuck, begin here: I chose this for you because…
